In today’s world a website is a necessity and the first step and foundation of your digital marketing plan.
Fortunately building a website has never been so easy. Companies like Godaddy, Weebly, Wix, and Squarespace are all companies that are considered as a one stop shop. You can register a domain name, and build your site all in one place.
Keeps it simple versus WordPress sites where you will have to register your domain at Godaddy, pick up a hosting plan at a company like Hostgator, and finally purchase and install the site template. It’s exhausting just thinking about it,
With all that being said, what is the Difference between WordPress and the all in one web companies? Let’s go through it.
Let’s refer to the all in one sites Weebly, Wix, Squarespace sites, as WWS.
-
User/Owner Friendly
When using WWS you can get your site up and running fast! There will be learning curves, but with the easy drag and drop style tools, most people who know how to use the internet will be able to figure it out. Once your site is all set up, it’s also easy to edit and manage on your own. WordPress is not User/Owner Friendly. If you hire a web designer to build your wordpress site, be prepared to hire someone, or Always Virtual Assistants, to help you manage and maintain the site.
-
Ease of Learning
WWS has support videos and many users with tutorials which can help you build your site. Just google search and you’ll find answers in forums and videos on Youtube. WordPress also has many users and videos, but the learning curve is STEEP, and not for everyone. If you have the time and patience then sure give it a try and start learning, otherwise leave WordPress design to experienced web design professionals like Always Virtual Assistants!
-
Great Looking Templates
WWS offers a lot of templates that can be created into beautiful professional sites, but when compared to WordPress, they don’t have much at all. WWS might have 50 sites to choose from, while WordPress has thousands. You’ll also notice that WWS sites are very basic and almost all are the same. Maybe they change the color scheme and move a few boxes around but in comparison to WordPress themes which has thousands of developers, you’ll notice they have much more style options, functionality and movement.
-
Basic Functions
Once you get the hang of things, you’ll quickly realize that WWS sites lack certain things that your competitor might have, or the functions seem generic in comparison to other websites. For example, online chat/online customer support. This function is referred to as a plug in, which the WWS may or may not offer. Plugin’s are added features built by web developers, and the WWS do not have a lot of 3rd party developers creating plugin’s, which can leave a lot to want from your site, that the WWS can not provide. Also, although you purchased the plugin from WWS, they do not support or guarantee that the plugin will work properly. If your site goes down due to the 3rd party plugin, you can be stranded and left with a broken site, and out of pocket the cost of the plugin. WordPress offers thousands of plugins to help make a better overall experience both front and back end of the site.
To wrap things up, WordPress sites offer a lot more with Design and Functionality, but is not easy to use and will need to be maintained regularly.
Weebly, Wix, and Squarespace, are all easy to use, with very basic functionality but time and effort still needs to be put in.
Bottom line, whichever you decide, Always Virtual Assistants can build you a site using WWS, or WordPress.
Our goal is to help you free up time, and make things easier for you.
